Hello and welcome to my studio page! It's still under construction so please bear with me as I gradually update the content!
Philosophy and Background
I have been teaching singing and song, getting on for more years than I want to divulge! I first began teaching in London after studying at the Guildhall School of Music and through my excursions into many styles of music, composition and songwriting, and many performances, I have developed many insights - both into the body and mind and its relationship to voice, and also into practical and theoretical aspects of music and performance.
My current teaching postitions are: The University of Auckland Jazz Dept.,
MAINZ Diploma Students, and my teaching credits include Sydney Conservatorium, Australian Institute of Music, University of Western Sydney, Musicians Institute London.
Thanks
I would like to firstly thank the teachers I consider myself blessed to have studied with. Some of these wonderful women have facilitated profound and life-changing experiences which have changed the direction of my life. They include Nicole Tibbels (London, UK), Sue Falk (Sydney, Australia), Dhanashree Pandit Rai (Mumbai, India), Jane Tankersley and Glenese Blake (Auckland, NZ), Jo Estill (USA).
Teaching Practise
My teaching practise is rooted in the postural alignment of the Alexander Technique. This is a very gently method of releasing tension in the body and applied to voice, releases the natural voice. It also deeply involves proper breathing practice and understanding how to support your sound. My work also encompasses an understanding of contemporary voice science.
I teach both private sessions, groupwork and classes in the following areas:
Singing Technique
Breathwork
Improvisation
Sight Singing
Performance
Classes in Singer Education

If this is your first time looking for a singing teacher
- it is worth finding someone who really knows their stuff from the word GO! whatever level you consider yourself to be. It is also important to understand what you want from singing lessons - do you just want to have some fun learning some songs? Is this something you've always wanted to do with your life and now you're going to do something about it? Or somewhere in between? Your answer will reflect the level of committment you're willing to put into your singing lessons and the frequency of your lessons.
If you're just starting out, try a group class or choir - you'll pick up a lot of useful tips and you'll soon know if you're ready to move to private classes.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.
Happy singing!
