BILLIE HOLIDAY TRIBUTE

This group was originally formed in collaboration with Michel Benebig (New Caledonia) for a series of concerts in Noumea. We celebrate the music and spirit of Billie Holiday and Lester Young in this special program of songs which return to Billie's early swing days, hey days and heartfelt ballads.

Vivacious! Infectious! and Uplifting Gypsy Jazz and Chanson avec l’esprit de Manouche.

“Manouche" jazz, also known as Gypsy swing is said to have been started by guitarist Djanho Reinhardt in and around Paris in the 1930s.

Club Manouche's "Puttin on the Ritz" includes songs of Django Reinhardt, classic swing, songs by Trenet, Brassens, Piaf and Serge Gainsberg, and some Latin American items from our multilingual chanteuse. PLUS! the unmissable ramblings of raconteur Pierre le Bassiste!

CAROLINA MOON'S MOTHER TONGUE ~ medieval, traditional and original song

'Mother Tongue' is a journey that begins in the heart of medieval Judeo Spain and the inspiring song of the Sephardim. Mixed with contemporary original and European compositions, infectious grooves and a visual backdrop, it features Nigel Gavin on guitar and electric oud, and Roger Manins on soprano saxophone, clarinets and flute.
