Carolina Moon ~ medieval, traditional and original song

A journey that begins in the heartland of medieval Spain through rivers of Indian time to inspired contemporary original and European compositions.

Carolina Moon perform music from around the world infused with the sounds and textures of their personal journeys through the colours of India, flamenco Spain, Europe, America, Australia and Aotearoa

Repertoire

The sensual and haunting melodies of the Spanish Judeo Sephardic lands lie at the heart of Carolina Moon's eclectic repertoire. Resonating with the beauty of Christian, Moslem and Jewish cultures within medieval Spain, their passions, lives and loves are again given voice in a spirit of newness. Carolina and her ensemble follow the heartbeat of the ancient pilgrim through songs of the Llibre Vermell and the glorious Cantigas de Santa Maria, Greece and the Celtic lands to contemporary Europe.

Performed in a range of languages both ancient and modern, Eastern and Western, infectious meters and original statements stand seamlessly in vibrant contrast to the reflective quality of pieces by modern European composers such as Mike Nock and Ralph Towner.
