The Carolina Moon Jazz Group featuring vocalist Carolina Moon and Roger Manins on tenor saxophone, is hailed as one of New Zealand's finest jazz groups.

They perform a feast of fearless swing, timeless classics and contemporary edge, spiced with Latin American and French chanson from their multilingual chanteuse. Carolina and real life partner Roger Manins share their joy of music, romance, humour and vivacious excellence that have seen their duowork described as 'brilliant'.

Billie Holiday Tribute

Carolina and Roger, both indebted to the presence of Billie and Lester perform a program of songs from Billie's early swing days, hey days and heartfelt ballads. Beautifully performed in the spirit of Lady Day and Pres.

Corporate Events, Functions and Weddings

The Carolina Moon Jazz Group are one of Auckland's leading jazz groups specialising in superlative background soundscapes for corporate events, functions and weddings. They create stylish settings moving the energy to uptempo and dance sets with a mixture of flowing dance grooves and popular classics.

The core of the group features Carolina Moon - vocals, and saxophonist Roger Manins who are based in Auckland working across NZ and internationally. Carolina and Roger also perform with a working rhythm section based in the Wellington region.

Program

The Carolina Moon Jazz Group draw from a songlist of over 300 songs, which include:

* Classic love songs, weaving their magic to create a special atmosphere

* International flavour with songs in French, Spanish, Portuguese - Greek, Hebrew, Ladino upon request.

The French Program ~ Club Manouche avec Carolina Moon

Vivacious French Chanson et Jazz avec l’esprit Manouche

Manouche avec la Moon, perform French jazz and Chanson which includes the songs of Piaf, Trenet, Brassens and Serge Gainsberg for example, with their own unique take on standard French (and sometimes Latin American) musical items. Add to that, off course, a few hot club numbers plus a whole heap of good time get down swing Great fun! OUI C'EST VRAI!

World Music Selections - Euro Soul / Mother Tongue

Euro Soul combines beautiful contemporary European jazz/world flavours, in a sensual and groovy, cutting edge experience for festivals, concerts and special events. The line up also features multi talented, multi instrumentalist Nigel Gavin and was recently performed with the wonderful Matthias Erdrich of the APO on acoustic bass.

Carolina's Mother Tongue Program also features Nigel - and focuses on the hauntingly beautiful Spanish Sephardic song tradition.
